With its “Philips Hue with Bluetooth” LED bulbs, Signify claims it can make smart lighting even more accessible, not only offering lighting set up and control through a Bluetooth-enabled app, but also making the LED bulbs compatible with various voice assistants.

The LED bulbs can be used to easily create the right ambiance for every occasion, with millions of colors and any shade of white light to choose from . Users can also use pre-set scenes to set the mood or to match their daily routine . What’s new is that the Hue Bluetooth lights can connect directly with Alexa in homes equipped with a compatible Amazon Echo device. Next will come extra compatibility with Google Home and Google Nest devices.

Lightbulbs bought on Amazon.com using the same account associated with a compatible Echo device will set up automatically. Alternatively you can ask Alexa to discover the installed LED bulbs, before controlling them by voice through Alexa.

Philips Hue Bluetooth products come in the traditional A19 light bulb shape and BR30 downlight (in the US). From Autumn 2019, Philips Hue A19 and GU10 will be introduced into Europe with added Bluetooth functionality – across Philips Hue white, Philips Hue white ambiance and Philips Hue white and color ambiance.
