According to a report from OLED info, the company presented a foldable AMOLED display that could be flexed in two directions, with internal and external folds. Kuntech Semiconductor develops and actively accumulates intellectual property to ensure technology autonomy and operational freedom.
The Chinese company claims to have enabled the first batch of enterprises that successfully developed and commercialized AMOLED displays. Based on past mass production experience and proprietary technologies, the researchers were able to further improve the flexibility of the AMOLED display technology and its resolution.
Kuntech leveraged an innovative flexible polyimide substrate together with an advanced film forming process to integrate a functional film and a multi-neutral zone structure to improve panel bend radius, enabling an S Double bend design. It also developed a novel OLED circuit design and advanced component processes and structures, such as LTPS, LTPO, etc.
To maximize the rendition of true colour, Kuntech claims it has developed a unique AI-based algorithm system, including an AMOLED colour engine, de-burnin, de-mura and data compression, for optimizing colour reproduction on the AMOLED display. The company plans to further develop smart factories and build an intelligent manufacturing system that integrates CIM, cloud technology and AI to maximize its productivity.
Shaanxi Kuntech's flexible semiconductor service manufacturing base invested a total of 6 billion USD in this project, including the setup of a world-class flexible semiconductor and display technology R&D certification center, a strong and complete flexible semiconductor and display industry chain, and the sixth-generation flexible AMOLED demonstration production line with a production capacity of 30K large substrates per month (with a substrate size of 1500x1850mm).
The coverage of the plants for the project is about 329.47 acres, including about 550,000 m 2 worth of clean room area, the largest clean room facility in Shaanxi Province. The project plant is anticipated to start operation in the fourth quarter of 2020, with mass production officially starting in the third quarter of 2021.
