310nm deep UV LEDs output up to 90mW

February 13, 2018 // By Julien Happich
Japanese company Dowa Electronic Materials announced it has successfully developed a deep ultraviolet LED chip with a peak wavelength of 310nm, capable of up to 90mW of optical power.

Measuring only 1x1mm, the deep UV LED chip is aimed at material curing and skin therapy applications. The UV LED can replace conventional mercury and excimer lamps while offering a longer lifetime and improved energy efficiency. Mass-production for this 310nm deep UV LED will start in April 2018.
